Terms of Service

Last updated: 15 July 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Kanto Notes ("Kanto", "we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the service you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Who we are

Kanto Notes is operated by the Kanto Notes team ("we"). Contact: hello@kantonotes.com. Postal address is available on request.

2. Your account

You must be at least 16 years old to use Kanto Notes. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity that happens under your account. Notify us immediately at security@kantonotes.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the service for anything illegal or that violates another party's rights.
  • Attempt to break, probe, or bypass our security or rate limits.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or resell the service without written permission.
  • Upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, or that infringes IP rights.
  • Use Kanto to build a competing product's training dataset.

4. Your content

You own your notes. We claim no rights to them beyond what we need to run the service (store, back up, index, and display them back to you). We do not train models on your content. See the Privacy Policy for details.

5. AI features

Kanto uses third-party AI models (OpenAI) to enrich, embed, transcribe, and answer questions over your notes. Generated output may occasionally be inaccurate or misleading. You are responsible for reviewing anything you rely on. Do not use Kanto for legal, medical, or financial advice.

6. Billing

Paid plans are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually) through Paddle.com Inc., our merchant of record. Paddle handles payment processing, tax collection, and invoicing. Prices are shown in USD unless otherwise stated; applicable taxes are added at checkout. Failed payments may result in immediate downgrade to the Free tier.

7. Refunds and cancellation

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. Cancellation stops future renewals and drops you to the Free tier at the end of the current period. Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.

8. Service availability

We work hard to keep Kanto up, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may suspend or modify the service, or specific features, with reasonable notice. We may terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

9. Warranty disclaimer

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from or related to the service will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or USD $100, whichever is greater. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms occasionally. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Kanto Notes is registered, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction unless we mutually agree otherwise.
